Orchids everywhere

IF you are an orchid enthusiast in Johor Baru, you can expect to see more than 1,500 species of rare and hybrid orchids from around the world at Danga Bay.

These awesome orchids will be showcased in creative landscaped designs from May 25 to June 3 at the Johor Bahru International Orchid Show 2007.

For 10 days, the site will be transformed into an exotic orchid garden where you will encounter beautiful and unusual blooms at every turn. The Orchid Show will be officially declared open by the Chief Minister of Johor, Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman, this Saturday, with the launch of a new orchid species. His wife, Datin Paduka Prof Dr Jamilah Ariffin, is patron of the Johor Orchid Society.

With more than 200 local and foreign participants from 19 countries including Taiwan, Indonesia, Singapore, Japan, Thailand, Germany, Australia, Denmark, Hong Kong and Switzerland, this year’s show promises to surpass previous shows.

Recognised as Malaysia’s biggest orchid landscape exhibition by the Malaysia Book of Records, this Orchid Show presents a great opportunity for visitors to attend a talk on orchids on Sunday, enjoy traditional games, cultural and musical shows, buy orchid plants and join contests in karaoke singing, colouring and orchid photography.
