Tioman is the biggest and most impressive island at the east coast. There is a brisk jungle covers a ridge on the west section of the island, which ends at the idyllic location of a beautiful palm fringed beach. Tioman offers a wide range of activities for visitors: snorkeling in crystal clear water, discover the beautiful underwater world when you go diving, or just laze on the beach while you work on that tan. Also, there is a jungle on the island that is just begging to be explored. The dense forest is a habitat for many kinds of flora and fauna.
Tioman was discovered as a holiday destination quite some time ago. It was the setting for the supposedly mythical magical island of Bali Hai from the 1958 Hollywood movie 'South Pacific'. In the 70s the Time magazine selected Tioman as one of the world's most beautiful islands.
Tioman is still rated as one of the world's most beautiful islands. It presents itself as a paradise island in the tropics. But sometimes you have to search for this paradise off the beaten track.

Second time in 2005.Took a ferry from Tg Gemok to Tekek, than to Juara with 4WD.Still crossing the jungle at a cost of RM 25.00 per person for a journey of 25 minutes.Better still especially for those who love to tracking by vehicle.
But now, my friend said , the track cannot be use by 4WD anymore. It become very terrible and only suitable for bulldozer and "Santaiwong" (lori hantu) only. It was because, that is the only track to cross the island. The Gov will upgrade it and at the same time people have to use it as their daily track. The project delay cause of the reason that not everybody know.May be you know.I have to come again on my official duty next month. So I will judge it on my own.
Those pictures you took are really spectacular. But amazingly, Tioman is really like that. It's a gorgeous paradise, so natural and so wild and rugged, as if going back 1000 years.
Time stands still in Tioman. This is how I would describe it.
We climbed the Gunung Kajang mountain with the local guide there, Mr. Iwan. It was like being in Jurassic Park.
We saw huge centipedes, roaring underground rivers, booby-trap boulders and caves, as well as out-sized flying foxes, even some of the vegetation looked alien, covered in knitting-needle like spikes.
I can't wait for August to come, book the ferry and be back in Tioman, the island where time stands still.
