Muzium Negara houses a collection of treasures tracing its way to the origins of Malaysia. The architecture of the museum replicates the structural design of a traditional Malay palace. Outside, a long mural depicts the multi cultural existence in Malaysia. Conceptualised in the 1960s, it illustrates the huge significance the country placed on agriculture then. Inside, the exhibits are a reminder that Malaysia is a result of many influences: Paganism, Malay, Chinese, Indian, Islamic and European. What you see is a fusion of history, art, culture, customs and way of life. Displays include different wedding attires of the various races, musical instruments, weapons used against the more sophisticated Europeans, collection of kris from all over the archipelago and ceramics from the Ming dynasty.
Opens daily 9:00-18:00.
Entrance fee : RM1.00 for adults.
